Training and Vocational Programs Scholarship

In 2016, the Board of the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund established the Training and Vocational Programs Scholarship. The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship awards scholarships on the basis of a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the Committee include, but are not limited to the following:

(1) Personal Statement, (2) Essay, (3) Letters of Recommendation and (4) Financial Need.

The scholarship awards are paid directly to the schools. Scholarship winners are awarded scholarships up to $2000, depending on financial need. Training or vocational programs must be in a Teamster-represented industry.

"I was there when we brought the Union in. The first-time contract they won for us was unbelievable. It changed the quality of my life. I am now a Shop Steward and enjoy working with my Union and looking after my fellow workers. "

- Paul Landrecht - Shop Steward. Island Farms Dairy.

"I have been a member of Teamsters Local 464 for 23 years and have seen many of the executives come and go. Some of the previous executives nearly ran the Local into bankruptcy including losing our pension.  Bobby Kornhass, Bob Ryder and Paul Barton brought us back from the brink. Since they took over in 2000, we at Dairyland (Saputo) have had the best contracts I have seen since I have been there."

- Randy Onyschak

"I was a Shop Steward and was also on the contract negotiation team. The Union took the time and trouble to learn all about our industry and what we do. This means they are better able to fight for us whether it is on the job or at the bargaining table. We have the best contract in our industry. Thanks guys!"
