Brother Bob started his career in the 1990s as a worker at Dairyworld, the largest employer of Local 464. His fellow workers, fed up with the lack of union representation, encouraged him to run for office. Winning the most overall votes, he was elected to the Business-Representative position.
Entering office, he set about spearheading the first strike in our Local’s history and thus negotiated, for our Original Cakerie members, one of the best contracts in their industry.
Bob believes in tough but fair negotiations. In 2005 Bob was elected Principal Officer by acclamation and presided over what is considered to be 464’s most successful term.
In 2010, he and his entire team were re-elected by acclamation: another first for our Local. Bob is also Secretary-Treasurer of Joint Council 36 and is on the Teamsters Canada National Executive Board, he is also on the Retirement Committee of the Teamsters Canada Pension Plan.
Bob continues to upgrade his labour education and skills and he motivates his members, Stewards, and Officers to do the same.
Brother Kornhass is a strong labour advocate and activist who believes firmly in the rights and dignity of working people and is committed to continuing to provide our members the best Union representation: job security, excellent contracts, benefits and working conditions, and the respect they deserve from their employers.
Bob has proven he is both a leader and a team player. In 2001, when they took office, he and Brother Ryder together set about to restore Local 464 to the honest, strong and proud Local it once was. Today, along with Business-Representative Paul Barton, and the rest of their team, they continue to ensure the Local’s success.
